Lovely quiet location not far from many historic war sites, the coast and Bayeux. Thank you Berenice and Richard for your nice leaving gift, your delicious hearty breakfasts with delicious homemade products and the daily surprise, and your hot coffee which seems rare to us in France.

Everything is wonderful here from the welcome to the departure. We are received as friends with warmth and generosity. The place is quiet and very pretty. Tastefully decorated and very cozy. Fantastisch luxury verblijf dichtbij de landingsstranden
The B&B is heel smaakvol ingericht en heeft een fantastische tuin met prachtig zwembad (helaas hebben we er geen gebruik van kunnen maken omdat het weer niet zo mooi was). De eigenaren zijn ontzettend vriendelijk en staan klaar met tips en informatie. Het ontbijt is uitgebreid en erg lekker. Elke dag een zelfgemaakt warm gerecht erbij. Hoewel de B&B afgelegen ligt, zijn de stranden en Bayeux niet ver weg (15-20 minutes rijden).
Zalig in rustgevend
Heel aangenaam verblijf. Heel mooie locatie, en heel rustig gelegen (hierdoor is de gsm ontvangst wel niet altijd geweldig maar de WiFi werkte wel goed). Basic maar lekker ontbijt met lokale producten. Elke dag werd er ook iets speciaal gemaakt (gebakken appeltjes, roerei, pannenkoekjes, vers fruit). Kamers was prima, voorzien van een klein basic keukentje (waterkoker, kleine fridge, microgolf, bestek, bordjes, glazen, tassen, …). Slechts 10 minuten rijden (auto) naar Bayeux of een ander stadje met voldoende restaurantjes, cafeetjes etc…
Kledingkast was vrij klein.
Het was een leuke en aangename vakantie.
Het zwembad en het uitzicht waren fantastisch. De ligging et de omgeving waren ook top. Een echte aanrader.
Geen eitje bij het ontbijt.

A very pleasant break
We stayed in a lovely house with an extensive garden. The owners have gites and we had one with its own patio. A good breakfast was provided. We visited the local sites in Normandy during the day and prepared our evening meal ourselves. We recommend this Bazenville site, and we will return next year

Great stay, an idyllic setting to find yourself in peace. The garden is relaxing, you can only hear the birds. The welcome put us in the mood that our stay was going to be perfect. The breakfast... We had read the opinions on this famous brioche and it lives up to what we read. The bedding is perfect. We keep the address to come back with great pleasure!!! Our only regret... Not staying longer

Only one regret: relatively short stay, days full of discovery of the region, so that we did not have the pleasure of enjoying the beautiful pool area...

Bérénice and Richard are wonderful! They make sure your stay is as smooth as possible. When you arrive the first time you almost have the impression of arriving at a friend's house as their kindness and their welcome are so warm. You will necessarily enjoy your stay, the small village of Bazenville and the surrounding area, the setting of the estate, the comfort of the room, the swimming pool, the breakfast with in particular homemade jams by Bérénice, the joy of discussing everything and in particular of art with this couple who like to receive. Een oasis van rust
Bijzonder hartelijk ontvangen door de gastheer en gastvrouw . We voelden meteen de rust van deze mooie plek. De gastenverblijven zijn zo gesitueerd dat je geen hinder hebt van buren. Het zwembad en de tuin zijn heerlijk! Alles is brandschoon! Het ontbijt was goed en we kregen elke dag iets extra's in form van fruitsalade, omelet od De koffie was lekker en de jam zelfgemaakt. We kwamen niets tekort. Toen wij er waren was het bijzonder wam. Binnen was het aangenaam en prima te doen. Buiten kon je de schaduw opzoeken onder een van de vele bomen op het land. 'S nachts was het heel stil . Yesterday kom je echt tot rust!
Een tip of een puntje van aandacht: in de b&b kamer is een badkuip die een hoge instap heeft. Hier zou een opstapje of een voetenbankje handig zijn voor minder validen en/of de wat ouderen onder ons.

Exotic weekend in Bazenville
A short summary of the stay: a very warm welcome in an idyllic place. We arrived on Friday evening around 10 p.m. at Bérénice and Richard's and were very well received. Bérénice showed us our room (very pleasant and nicely decorated) offered us a drink and explained a little bit about the surroundings. The next morning a great breakfast awaited us with the sun and always the good humor of our hosts. They are very accommodating and caring. The setting of the guest house is ideal in the middle of the countryside but 10 minutes from everything by car. Calm reigns in the property, the swimming pool is magnificent and everything is available to make the most of it. I say no more to keep surprises. If you ever hesitate to go to them, don't hesitate and go for it. It is with great pleasure that we will return to BAZENVILLE with Richard and Bérénice. thank you again for your hospitality

Charm and sweetness of life
We spent 2 nights and 2 days of happiness with Bérénice and Richard. The welcome was perfect, attention at all times, the place is quite magical between softness and serenity (the rooms are charming, the breakfast at the top), we didn't want to leave. For a moment of cocooning and rest, go there without hesitation. In addition, the cottage is perfectly located to radiate without doing too many km. I highly recommend.

Stay 2 nights second half of August. Good exchange with the owners who welcomed us with sympathy and good humor. The room is as described. However, it lacks brightness (lighting) and it is cool. Generous breakfast served inside or on the terrace depending on the weather. Thank you for the French toast and hot apples! Well-kept garden and sizeable swimming pool. Bérénice and her husband are very welcoming and passionate about art and history, it was a treat to talk with them during breakfast; they gave us advice on the visits not to be missed and thanks to them, we did the CAEN and FALAISE Memorial, the coast of the Normandy coast and many other things. Regarding the guest room, it is very good (small problem, however, for the bathtub which is not very practical, it is high and does not allow you to take a shower, you have to wash with the hand shower or take a bath ) the ideal would be to replace it with a shower as long as there is the necessary space .... it's just a suggestion .... of course! As for the breakfasts (we stayed 5 days) it was simply brilliant: coffee, fruit juice, baguette, small pastries, homemade jams, and every morning, a small dessert made by our Hosts (French toast, cottage cheese with raspberries , apples with cinnamon, or even fruit salad .......) - In short, all that to say that our stay went wonderfully, thanks to Bérénice and her husband

Ideal Normandy Getaway!
An unforgettable and truly relaxing stay in Normandy! The location cannot be beat. Easy access to all the D-Day beaches, Bayeux, Caen, and the Calvados row distilleries. This renovated farm-home is steeped in charm and complete with a heated pool, perfect for a dip after a day of discovery. Berenice and Richard are gracious and generous hosts. Breakfast each day was delightful, always with a twist of surprise. Your hosts are highly knowledgeable on the region and even guided us to the Eastern D-Day beaches (Gold & Juno). If you have a chance to visit the Cruelly Castle, you will see Richard and Berenice's side project, which involves highlighting the history of the BBC's coverage of the D-Day invasion. This is the true conception of modern field war-reporting from the front. Stay here and you'll have no regrets! *Rental-car highly recommended to allow for the maximum flexibility betweenhistorical sites.

It was very quiet and nicely decorated. Beautiful property and very comfortable. Hostess did her best to make me feel welcome and assist with daily touring plans. Good breakfast geared to personal taste.
GPS doesn't actually get you there! It indicated I had arrived when I was still 500 meters away and in a narrow walled lane near #4. You need to carry on past the stop sign and around a bend to the left to get there. Hostess said that is a common complaint.

Great location, comfortable accommodation but, most of all, wonderful hosts
The significant feature of our stay was the utterly charming and friendly owners. They gave us lots of help with restaurants, sights and activities. The room was comfortable, the location ideal for visits to the Normandy beaches and we were very lucky with the weather, so we used the pool and sat in the sun. All-in-all, we had a wonderful weekend and would return.

A wonderful B&B set in an old farmhouse in the Normandy countryside. The host, Berenice, is from the area and quite happy to share her insight and make suggestions on things to do and see as well as the local restaurants in the surrounding villages. (Particularly, her English was good that we did not miss any of this great information she shared). We were fortunate to have met the whole family while visiting and all made us feel warm and welcome. The room was nicely appointed and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was quite nice and the breakfast room is idyllic for sitting in nature. Despite being in mid winter the gardens were beautiful, and we loved the art scene that her family displayed both in and outdoors in the property. We only wish we stayed longer with her to enjoy more of Normandy.
Wow - really special and arty place in a historic surrounding!
Berenice and her Husband really took so much effort to give us a good experience. She was fine with a multiple times delayed late arrival and made sure we were welcomed nicely. She took a lot of time to explain us the surrounding and gave very nice tips for our explorations. Her (home made) jams were out of this world and her husband freshly produced specialties for us for breakfast. The house itself was very newly remodeled and invited to relax at the pool and sauna (which we did not find the time to use). A lot of art pieces created a very special atmosphere. Her Family is living on the spot as well but we felt to have a very good and private unit for us. We also made us of the (free) bicycles that she provided. The location is very great to explore the area around the landing beaches as well as Caen and Bayeux. All in all we almost felt to be visiting some friends and stay in their house and getting introduced to some local behaviors and food. They are just starting their B&B and we wish them all the best. Sure to return with a bit more time though (only 3 nights)
Geweldig! Tekort voor een nacht.
Ontzettende aardige gastvrouw die heel enthusiastic sprak over de geschiedenis van het huis en waar een kunstschilder leefde. Ze weet heel veel te vertellen over de omgeving met zijn verleden De woningen waren mooi ingericht met veel kunst. We hebben het ervaren als een klein paradijsje en willen beslist terugkomen voor een langer verblijf.
Op de site van bookingcom staat dat het aan het strand ligt. Dit is niet waar. Het strand ligt een paar km verderop.

Heerlijk rustige uitvalsbasis voor verkenning
Heerlijk rustig gelegenB&B in een klein landelijk dorpje. Met verwarmd buitenzwembad! Fijn terrasje met zitje voor de kamer, met uitzicht op de mooie tuin. Prima ontbijt puts pours croissants, stokbrood, zelfgemaakte jam, yoghurt in fruit. Zeer behulpzame en vriendelijke eigenaren. De dame spreekt goed Engels en geeft graag tips over wat er allemaal te doen en zien is in de omgeving. Gratis leenfietsen om de mooie omgeving te verkennen, maar let op ze zijn wel erg klein (maatje knie in je oor). Vanaf de B&B loop je in ruim een uur door de velden naar het aan zee gelegen dorpje Arromanche waar various restaurants te vinden zijn. Wij hebben hier 5 nachten geslapen, en ons geen moment verveeld. O Sources is een perfecte uitvalsbasis voor een verkenning van Normandië. Er is zoveel historie in de direct omgeving. En dat gecombineerd met de mooie natuur en schattige dorpjes, maakt het een bijzonder aangename plaats.

Fantastisch heerlijk, mooi en rustig plekje
Het is een heerlijk ruim en sfeervol huisje, met alle voorzieningen die je maar wenst. Een goede zithoek, een fijne tuin, een prima uitgeruste keuken. Twee slaapkamers, met ieder zijn eigen shower in toilet. Daarnaast een heerlijk zwembad met terras. Alles keurig onderhouden. Dit naast supervriendelijke hosts!! Ze geven meteen een goed en fijn gevoel dat je welkom bent. Veel tips over de omgeving, en als extraatje namen ze brood mee van de bakker, omdat ze tòch al gaan.... superfijn natuurlijk.
Wij hebben geen tegenvallers ervaren.

Beautiful cottage and friendly hosts
The cottage is very comfortable and in beautiful, peaceful surroundings. No one else was staying when we were there, so we had the gardens and pool to ourselves. Beautiful location and bikes available to take out for an explore. Berenice was very welcoming and gave us loads of information to help us with our trips to Bayeux, Arromanches and Pegasus Bridge. We were with 2 children (6 and 9 years) and they loved it. The creaking staircase (mentioned in other posts) didn't seem to disturb their sleep. I would definitely recommend this gite to anyone wanting to visit Normandy.

Great weekend in Normandy!
Our stay went extremely well. Bérénice and Richard are charming people who took great care from our arrival (small Norman cakes, jam, preparation of the swimming pool, advice for discovering the region…) until the end of our stay. We were charmed by this completely renovated old house mixing old furniture and a typical contemporary art decoration which makes this place very classy. We will recommend this cottage to our acquaintances wanting to discover the region, without hesitation, and if we come to go back to Normandy, it is there that we will put our suitcases again!

The house is very beautiful, cozy and really everything was there: from cleaning products til toilet paper and barbecue gear. The pool was also very nice and clean, our children really enjoyed playing in it. The owners are a very friendly, hospitable couple. Nothing was too much for them, every morning fresh baguettes in front of the door, they spoiled us with vegetables from their own garden and homemade cakes. In one word: fantastic! :)
Top-wij gaan hier nog een keer naartoe!
De plek ligt perfect centraal voor alle bezoeken aan erfgoed (van middeleeuwen tot WOII). Het is er fijn rustig. Het huisje is met gevoel voor kunst en antiek ingericht. De gastvrouw- en heer zijn fantastisch: sympathyk, vol kennis van de historie van de streek, behulpzaam, en ze laten je verder gewoon lekker met rust. We kregen omdat we interesse toonden prachtige verhalen over de landingen, een tour met de auto door de streek, elke ochtend lekkere baguettes en een paar courgettes en tomaten uit eigen tuin. Huiskat Chagall kwam zo nu en dan een aai halen als we aan het zwembad lagen. Het zwembad deel je met de eigenaren en enkele andere gasten, maar dat gaat allemaal heel rustig en gemoedelijk. De eigenaren zijn doorlopend aan het verbeteren, wij zijn benieuwd hoe het er volgende keer zal zijn, want wij gaan nog eens terug!
Iets comfortabeler buitenmeubilair zou nog fijner zijn geweest.

A stay in a region full of history
We really enjoyed our stay at O Loft, we appreciated the welcome from Bérénice and Richard, their kindness and their little attentions and thank them for it. The cottage is comfortable and very quiet, our grandsons took full advantage of the swimming pool even if the weather was not always favorable. We very much hope to come back next year to continue our discovery of this beautiful region.

Visiting a family from the south in Normandy
Thank you to our hosts for their warm welcome and their advice on visits. We enjoyed the bikes and the pool. The beach of Asnelles a few short kilometers from the gîte is very pleasant, family-friendly and ideal for learning about sand yachting. Many sites related to the landing are nearby. In short, an ideal location to know everything about the 2nd World War. At 1h30 by road, Cherbourg and its city of the sea are to be done as a family with Ste Mère l'Eglise and other possible stops on the way. In our region everyone thinks that it often rains in Normandy. We checked on the spot, it's a legend we had a very pleasant week. Thanks again to Bérénice and her husband for their welcome.
Es war so schön
Leider waren wir nur eine Woche in Bazenville. Der Ort ist ca. 6km from der Küste and ca. 10 km from Bayeux entrance. Wer gerne mit dem Fahrrad fährt, hat von hier einen guten Ausgangspunkt für abwechslungsreiche Touren ins Umland. Die Gastgeber sind sehr herzlich. Wir haben uns sehr Wohlgefühlt.

Lovely place if your knees are up to it.
All the lovely things people have said about O Loft are true. Comfortable, well located, welcoming, peaceful. I especially enjoyed the swimming pool and the stove. But just a word of warning to those who are not as young as they used to be. The stairs are steep! Going up is OK but coming down takes care and attention. The steps to the garden are steep and uneven. And the step into the pool is steep with no handrail. If your knees still work it's unbeatable. But if not, it might not be the place for you.

A beautiful base for discovering the coast
We were very well received by the owners in a gîte which has character (former artist's studio) and allows us to discover many sites nearby (Bayeux 10 km away, Port en Bessin, the Landing beaches, Caen). The sea is never far away. The cottage is warm, well equipped, including books and magazines related to history (Paris Match collection on the Liberation!). We were there for Christmas and had a lovely week.

Excellent holiday
Berenice & Richard made us most welcome to their very tastefully decorated gite, with its comfortable lounge. The stairs to the upper floor are a little steep. It's worth mentioning that the double bed is a superking & we slept very well in it, especially as the area is wonderfully peaceful & quiet. The gite is perfectly positioned in the middle for seeing the D-day landing beaches and is only 10 mins from Bayeux which had everything we needed. Our thanks to Berenice & Richard for a lovely holiday!
Very pleasant stay
A very pleasant stay in this modern gite which has kept its soul of an artist's studio. The garden and the swimming pool are additional assets. Mrs and Mr Castel are really very welcoming and available to give ideas for walks and visits. The village of Bazenville is magnificent with its blond stone walls and buildings and the Bessin is a region to discover, full of treasures.

Very warm welcome from Bérénice and Richard, with lots of advice on cultural, gastronomic and sporting activities in the region. The cottage is superb with a library and CDs for all tastes, board games, garden furniture with BBC on private land. The shared swimming pool is very pleasant even with an average outside temperature. And thank you for the bikes you lent us with the adapted hiking circuit.

Wir verbrachten eine sehr entspannte und ungestörte Woche in diesem wunderbaren, authentic Ferienhaus, das die Besitzer mit viel Liebe renoviert haben. Es entspricht in allen Punkten der Beschreibung auf der Website. Perfekt eingerichtet und mit allem Komfort vershen. Jedes der beiden großen Schlafzimmer hat eine eigene Dusche und ein WC. Die Betten waren herrlich bequem. Im eigenen Garten, der an das Haus anschließt, genossen wir in der Sonne unseren Kaffee am Morgen. Wir genossen den großen Pool, der in einem weiteren, angrenzende, wunderschönen Gartengelände liegt. Wer Ruhe sucht, der findet sie hier.Unsere Gastgeber empfingen uns herzlich und waren bei Bedarf ansprechbar. Wir können diese Unterkunft uneingeschränkt weiter empfehlen.

Schöne ruhige und gepflegte Unterkunft. Leider nur zwei zwei Schlafzimmer mit zweiEinzelbetten in dem einen und ein großes Bett in dem anderen, so dass einer von uns vier Männern auf der Couch schlafen musste. Ansonsten ist alles da, was man braucht. Der schöne große Pool ist ein Extra obendrauf.

This was an awesome place to relax and unwind after Paris. The proximity to the Normandy D-Day landing beaches was very convenient. The property itself is gorgeous with a nice garden and pool area, very quiet. The only sound was the breeze and the birds!!! The unit is roomy and comfortable with all the amenities one could need. The area is in the countryside of Normandy, with numerous small villages and gorgeous countryside. The roads and access were all good....it was an extremely enjoyable and relaxing stay. Your hosts Berenice and Richard are the epitome of French hospitality! Any and all questions were answered, they gave numerous recommendations that we followed and enjoyed every one. Excellent stay, perfect location and wonderful hosts. Owner gave good advice for visiting the Normandy beaches and Bayeux tapestry. Didn't get to use the pool as so much to see in the area, but it did look lovely. Owner went over and above when we had a problem with our car and every morning would deliver croissants to our door from the local bakery. Cannot recommend highly enough, only problem we had is wish we could have stayed longer.

We had a very good stay in "the attic of the artist"! The cottage is comfortable, welcoming, cozy, clean, warm and furnished with great taste. Calm Norman retreat
For lovers of the countryside and the sea air. La Mansarde de Bérénice is the ideal place to regenerate and for a romantic stay. The decoration is original and sometimes recycled, which makes it a unique place. I liked waking up to the sounds of birdsong, running in the countryside and reaching the sea in a few minutes. the sweetness of life between sea and countryside
I came by train to Bayeux, Madame Castel kindly offered to pick me up. My wish was to find a cozy nest where I could recharge my batteries in the green and not too far from the sea because without a car. The cottage is in a marvelous site, furnished with taste, a small private terrace allows you to be outside, to read, have lunch, accompanied by the singing of birds. Quiet, surrounded by greenery and fields, it is an ideal place for walking, cycling (loan), visiting history, relaxing by the swimming pool or cycling to the sea. I highly recommend the lodging O Attic of the Artist. I would like to thank my hosts for their warm welcome, advice and kindness.

'Ô Attic of the Artist' is, in a word, lovely. The hosts have spent time adding their artistic elements to the gite whilst also having the latest modern conveniences. Our time in the cottage was very peaceful and relaxing. The location is perfect for touring the D-Day landing sites, Bayeux and the other most important sites of the area. Quite close to the sea without the inconvenience on its part .... thanks to a small piece of wood in front, in the evening we were able to take advantage of the private terrace to contemplate the starry sky without the slightest feeling of cold. Swimming in the morning, visit of neighboring towns and villages, from the American cemetery to small abbeys, the choice will please everyone. The owners are very welcoming and know how to adapt according to their hosts, warm close to good advice, or discreet invisible... they know how to behave according to their hosts! Private BBQ, homemade jams, local cider, wifi, immaculate parking space as I came by van..... - I would think not to come back empty handed next time.

Unser Aufenthalt war sehr schön, wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Gastgeber sind sehr freundlich, herzlich und haben gute Tipps für Unternehmungen in der Umgebung. Das Anwesen ist liebevoll gestaltet und hat schöne Ecken. auch die Wohnung war sehr sauber und hatte alles, was wir brauchten. Den Pool haben wir sehr genossen. Wir können diese Address absolut weiterempfehlen und bedanken uns ganz herzlich für alles!

We had a great stay in this very comfortable, spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated gite. We felt at home thanks to Bérénice's warm welcome. As for tourism, we recommend visiting the cathedral and the old town of Bayeux with Claire, a guide from the tourist office. She is perfect !

We had a great time. The owners are very nice and caring. They gave us good advice. Nothing was missing in terms of equipment. The accommodation is quiet in the countryside but close to the sites to visit.
